OnePlus 5T India launch: New features, expected price, live stream

New Delhi: OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, known for their ‘affordable’, ‘robust’ smartphones with high-end hardware, is all set to launch the upgraded version of the OnePlus 5, the 5 ‘T’ on November 16.

The OnePlus 5T will likely have a larger display to accommodate the 18:9 aspect ratio and the company is promising ‘A New View’ display.

Launch date and timing:

November 16 has been confirmed as the launch date, and the event will be held in Brooklyn, New York at 9:30 pm IST. The event will be live-streamed worldwide, and in India, can be viewed on larger screens at PVR Chankayapuri, Delhi and other PVR screens in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune.

India sale and expected price:

While the official sale in India is scheduled from November 28 onwards, an ‘early access sale’ will be held on November 21 at 4:30 pm IST on Amazon India and the OnePlus store.

In terms of pricing, the company’s latest flagship devices have seen an increase in price over successive models. The OnePlus 5T could be priced in the Rs 40,000 bracket factoring in the rumoured edge-to-edge display. The OnePlus 5 was launched at Rs 32,999 in India for the 6GB variant and Rs 37,999 for the 8GB model.

New features:

Going by leaked images, the OnePlus 5T could have a 6-inch FHD edge-to-edge display with lesser bezel and 18:9 aspect ratio. The fingerprint scanner, located on the front of the OnePlus 5, might be shifted to the rear of the 5T to house the ‘New View’ display.


In terms of internal specifications, the 5T is expected to have the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and Adreno 540 GPU with either 8GB RAM/128GB storage or 6GB/ 64GB variants.

The coveted OnePlus camera, too, is expected to remain the same- with the 16 MP+20 MP configuration for the rear shooter.
